Content Club: Having Fun Edition

Fun is a feeling, not an activity. 

People who are having fun will look like they are being illuminated from within.

True fun produces this visceral sense of lightness and joy, it's radiant.

Three factors are consistently present during fun:

    Playfulness

    Connection

    Flow

          Chasing Excellence-Kick Ass 'til You Kick the Bucket (Aunt JoAnn-Language Alert)

-What's something that fascinates you?

-What's one thing that delighted you today?

-What is a memory in which you had the most fun?

-Who was with you, what were you doing, and what made it special?

-How do I want to be spending my days?

-What's the kind of identity I want to have?

-What habits reinforce that identity?

Season/Identity Shifts

-What am I optimizing for?

-What season am I in right now?

-When your season shifts your habits often need to shift with it.

-Out of all the options out there, is there a way to make it better with these constraints?

Ask Better Questions:

"Questions are crucial (flexible & adaptable)...advice is very dependent on context (brittle)."

-Can my current habits carry me to my desired future?

-How have I been complicit in creating the conditions I say I don't want?-Jerry Colonna

-Do I need to spend more time searching for better information or do I need to spend more time acting on the information I already have? (Bottleneck of strategy or execution)

-What should I attempt?

Useful & Empowering Story

Tell the story with no lies as the least favorable and then as the most favorable.

"When we can frame why we are doing things on a daily basis in a more empowering way as opposed to a dis empowering way it starts to feel like there is a lot more flow, fun, fulfillment, joy in life..."

Both Can Be True

1% Five minutes at a time

-How can I live five good minutes?

-How can you live a good life today?

Focus on trajectory rather than position.

Time will magnify whatever you feed it.

"The results of success are widely discussed and highly visible and the process of success is often invisible and hidden from view."

We overvalue outcomes...undervalue process.

Most of your results in life are a lagging measure of the habits that proceed them. 

The tighter you cling to current identity the harder it is to grow beyond it.

Habits are not a finish line to be crossed, they are a lifestyle to be lived.
